Public Advocate Letitia James is siding with state Sen. Jeff Klein in Tuesday’s Democratic primary.
“From securing funding for universal pre-kindergarten to expanding childcare access for families, [Klein] has been a crucially important leader in the Senate,” James said Friday. “I’m endorsing [him] for re-election so he can continue to deliver for working families and making New York a stronger city and state for all.”
In signing on to Team Klein, James takes a pass on the incumbent’s challenger, Oliver Koppell.
He, like James, is a former member of the City Council.
Klein, head of the Senate Independent Democratic Conference, also has the backing of Gov. Cuomo, Mayor de Blasio, and top Bronx leaders in his bid for re-election in the 34th District, which also extends into Westchester.
