Ding Dong and Busy Signal Beefing
Ding Dong versus Busy Signal is the most unlikely beef in dancehall this year.
With Sting coming to an end last year, dancehall currently has no live platform for hard clash anymore, but that isn’t stopping artists from stirring up new feuds. Dancer turn deejay, Ding Dong, released a new single last week “Flare” where he took a surprising jab at Busy Signal leaving everyone to figure out what’s really going on between the two of them.
“Yo no see the Ravers crew flare / Mi diamonds a canary, every dogs wa mi roll with scary / Yo see me cloth and me car wash daily / A wah yo think man lame / Mi no Busy Signal no call Gary,” Ding Dong deejay. In one of his biggest singles to date “On More Night,” Buys Signal has a line that can easy be misinterpreted. “Hear me gimme one more night girl / A million more night cuz I can’t sleep without you,” Busy sings. That line can easily be confused with “Gary gimme one more night.”
Busy Signal drops a brand new track “Stay So” this week where he took shots at his haters. Some dancehall fans think that he is specifically taking shots at Ding Dong.
Alkaline Vs Vybz Kartel: Who Is The Real “1 Don” ?
Alkaline and Vybz Kartel are the two top rivals in dancehall currently and lately they are both fighting over the “1 Don” moniker.
Over the past few years, Alkaline has called himself other monikers like Young Lawd and Torch, while Vybz Kartel called himself The Teacher and Worl’Boss. Now both deejays are referring to themselves as the 1 Don of dancehall. The term one done means that you are the top artist in the genre currently and fans of both sides will say that their artist is the leading act.
Vybz Kartel released a new single “Don’t Come Back” last week where he deejays about being the only one done in dancehall. “One don one don that’s me / Kartel, Worl’ Boss or Teach / Run street whether black or bleach / Or if me say be my first G / Me stop tell girls ’bout faithful / ‘Cause they will do what they want / But since we broke up, I’m so strong,” Kartel deejay. The last two lines are believed to be a shot at his baby mama.
Alkaline then posted a photo of himself in the studio on Instagram over the weekend which he captioned “1 Don.” Since the start of the year, both Alkaline and Vybz Kartel have released diss tracks against each other but not on the level of the Gully/Gaza feud of the mid-2000s. Kartel’s camp has also been very vocal about Alkaline imitating some of the deejay’s style and using shock-value to gain more notoriety like skin bleaching, controversial lyrics, and the infamous eyeball tattoo which turns out to be fake.
Since breaking onto the scene in 2013, Alkaline has made a name for himself in dancehall with a vast catalog of hit songs. Although his musical catalog is nowhere near as large of Vybz Kartel’s, Alkaline name often arrives in conversation with other top dancehall acts like Vybz Kartel, Mavado, and Popcaan.
Vybz Kartel “Mhm Hm” Gave Foska Oats and Suppligen Big Sales Boost.
Vybz Kartel currently has a grip on dancehall with his new single “Mhm Hm” and now Foska Oats and Suppligen are getting a big sales boost from the single.
Since dropping the single last month, “Mhm Hm” became an instant hit for Vybz Kartel and a couple lines in the single got corporate Jamaica beaming. “Get the oats, mhm / Get the Supligen, mhm hm / Get the nuts, mhm / Get the nutmeg, mhm hm / Blend it up, mhm / Turn it a your head, mhm hm / Get a gyal and just go get your children,” Karyel deejay over a beat produced by Jones Ave Records.
Dancehall fans have been posting images of their Foska Oats and Suppligen on Instagram in reference to the lyrics of the song. “Right now Foska and Nestle owe Vybz Kartel millions for this big sales boost,” a rep for the incarcerated deejay told Dancehall HipHop. “The only reason why corporate Jamaica is not going for Kartel right now is because he is behind bars. This is the one man who can get your products sell and they know that, but hopefully we can win this appeal and make the boss do road.
