A$AP Rocky found himself in a giving mood when the Harlem native offered students at the University of Las Vegas insight on the music industry, his life and his creative process.

In conjunction with The Samsung LEVEL Music Lab, Rocky spoke to students mid-December about the importance of staying true to themselves. “Most of all, I wanted people to take away an experience with a genuine artist,” he said. “I wanted them to know no matter what you have to be continue to be yourself. Whoever you are be you and be genuine to you. Not a lot of people choose to do that.”

For Rocky, the campus lecture comes just one month before his tribute concert to Steven “A$AP Yams” Rodriguez, dear friend and co-founder of the A$AP Mob who died of an accidental overdose. After the lecture, one special student received a one-on-one with Rocky in which the two dived deeper into Rocky’s lecture.
