Ed Sheeran Sued For $100 Million Over Alleged Marvin Gaye Classic Rip-Off

Ed Sheeran has been accused of ripping off the Marvin Gaye classic “Let’s Get It On” for his Grammy-winning hit “Thinking Out Loud.” Structured Asset Sales is suing the British singer-songwriter for a whopping $100 million.

According to the lawsuit obtained by TMZ, “Thinking Out Loud” reportedly features the same “melody, rhythms, harmonies, drums, bassline, backing chorus, tempo, syncopation and looping” as Gaye’s 1973 track.

“Let’s Get It On” was written by Gaye and Edward Townsend, who passed away in 2016. Structured Asset Sales bought one-third of the copyright for the song, which reportedly amounts to $100 million. In 2016, Townsend’s family reportedly tried to sue Sheeran for implementing “elements” of Mr. Townsend’s song, however, they were unsuccessful due to a federal judge dismissing the complaint.

This wouldn’t be the first time the ÷ musician was accused of plagiarism or borrowing musical elements without permission. After Internet sleuths noticed that the pre-chorus melody of his 2017 song “Shape Of You” was similar to TLC’s “No Scrubs,” Kandi Burruss and Tiny Harris were given songwriting credits on the Sheeran track.

He was also accused of plagiarizing a track that he wrote for Faith Hill and Tim McGraw, and reportedly asked a judge to throw out the lawsuit in April 2018.

Mavado Staying Away From Jamaica Fearful For His Safety

Mavado Staying Away From Jamaica Fearful For His Safety

Mavado is steering clear of Jamaica because the singer is fearful for his safety.

It’s been three weeks since Mavado left Jamaica and has remained in the U.S. despite a warning from law enforcement officials to return to the island and turn himself in. Sources inside the Gullyside camp told Urban Islandz that the dancehall singjay is unlikely to return to the island anytime soon and he is staying away for his safety.

“A nuff [a lot] of things going on right now the place hot and it make sense the Gad [Mavado] just cool out a foreign until things cool down,” sources said. “Right now not even the police you can’t trust because a nuff a them a link with badman and a plot against singer in secret. So the best thing for him right now a just stay a foreign.”Since the infamous shooting incident involving Mavado earlier this month in Cassava Piece, there has been a flare-up of gun violence in the community. Law enforcement officials have since issue a curfew in the area. There has been at least one reprisal killing since Mavado was shot at. Lorenzo Thomas, 23, was shot, chopped and his home burnt with his body inside just three days after the shooting.

Mavado’s 16-year-old son and another man has been charged with Thomas’ murder and are both currently held without bond. The Gully Gad’s cousin, Chase Cross, who is also a dancehall artist, was also charged with assault for his role in the initial domestic dispute that leads to the shooting. He is currently out on bail.

Mavado’s attorney, Tamika Harris, recently revealed that the singer wants to return to Jamaica but wants to avoid a media spectacle whenever he is doing so. Vado also expressed his son’s innocence and vowed to fight for his freedom down to the end.

Meek Mill’s Judge Denies Request To Overturn Conviction

Meek Mill’s Judge Denies Request To Overturn Conviction

After being released on bail in April, the “Stay Woke” rapper and his team have remained diligent in overturning his 2008 conviction for possessing a firearm and drugs. However, that legal battle just hit a roadblock.

According to Philly.com, Judge Genece E. Brinkley denied the 31-year-old artist’s “petition for relief” from the case that has placed him on probation for over a decade now (he was initially given eight years probation when he was sentenced by Brinkley in 2008). The reason for Meek’s plea stems back to a bombshell report that claims the officer responsible for his detainment was a corrupt official.

Part of Judge Brinkley’s basis for the denial stems from her disapproval of the District Attorney’s Office’s investigation into former officer Reginald Graham. Therefore, the DA’s probe failed to back up claims that Graham “lacked credibility,” according to the news site. Meek, born Robert Rihmeek Williams, and his legal team utilized the extensive report on Graham’s behavior to show the court if this information was present during Williams’ first arrest, the outcome of his fate in the criminal justice system might’ve been different.

In a statement made by the rapper’s lawyer, Joe Tacopina, the legal team remains unsurprised by Judge Brinkley’s ruling. “Despite the agreement of the District Attorney’s office on the need for a new trial and the granting of new trials to other identically situated defendants, Judge Brinkley made clear during the hearing on June 18th that she had already decided the matter.”

Beenie Man Diss Popcaan AGAIN Using Alkaline Line In Gritty New Track

Beenie Man Diss Popcaan AGAIN Using Alkaline Line In Gritty New Track

Beenie Man disses Popcaan again using one of Alkaline’s infamous lines.

The dancehall king drops a new diss track “Mine How U a Pass Yuh Place” aimed squarely at Popcaan and his crew and it seems like the Doc might want to team up with Alkaline for a joint diss track. At the beginning of last year, Alka released a gritty diss track titled “Microwave” that shook the Unruly camp. Popcaan never responded to that diss track and the Vendetta deejay dropped a follow-up and still didn’t get a response.

Now Beenie Man is using the same microwave line to diss Popcaan in his new diss track. As if that’s not enough, Beenie doubled down on telling Poppy about his mother, in reminiscence to the infamous leaked video of him disrespecting the dancehall deejay and his mother Ms. Rhona. The dancehall legend got hammered for it on social media and the Unruly Boss took a few shots at him over it.“Me bloodclaat unnu really want to do this? / Go s**k your man mother,” Beenie Man said in the intro before adding, “Microwave never make when man a boil corn / When man a buss corn people life gone / Tell just born young bird no know storm.”

The diss track was produced by Seanizzle on the new 13th Friday Riddim. “Pu**y you can’t win tha war ya dog so why try / Every Killy Killy dead anytime we drive by / Shot in a yo face cook skin fry eye / Every bullet connect like free WiFi,” Beenie spits.
